The raving reviews for Sarmad Khoosat’s upcoming film, Kamli, has raised everyone’s expectations for a magical cinematic experience. At the receiving end of such overwhelming praise, Saba Qamar, essaying the lead role of Hina, a docile lioness in the mystery romantic thriller, got emotional at the Karachi premiere. The 38-year-old actor later took to her social media handle to share how watching the character on the big screen gave her “goosebumps” throughout.
“[Kamli is] a film that I hold very close to my heart and Hina, a character that I’ve lived is unrealistically beautiful. To be honest watching Hina on screen gave me goosebumps throughout,” she wrote.
She added that the reason why she couldn’t hold back her tears after the screening was how it reminded her of “all the hard work and efforts” she made to give life to this character. “Receiving appreciation for this made my heart so full.”
Saba also extended her gratitude to the mastermind behind the film, Sarmad. “Sarmad Jee, my amazing manto (mentor), I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to play Hina. Words would not be enough to describe how grateful I’m to have gotten the opportunity to work with legendary actors like Nimra [Bucha] and Sania [Saeed].”
The film has left an everlasting effect on Saba– one that she says will stay with her forever. “ I’m still in Kamli I believe, Kamli is going to stay with me forever.”
Concluding the post, Saba also thanked her friends, actor Mehwish Hayat and singer Bilal Ashraf for showing up for her “at a last moment call”.
Kamli is due for its cinematic release in two days on June 3rd.
